WACO, Texas (KBTX) – Baylor defeated Texas A&M 2-1 in women’s soccer Sunday, handing the Aggies their first loss of the season.
Both teams entered the match at 1-0. Baylor was coming off a win against No. 10 Arkansas on Wednesday. Texas A&M picked up its first win of the Bobby Shuttleworth era against Rice.
Lauren Omholt found Callie Conrad in the seventh minute, and Conrad chipped in the opening goal to put Baylor up 1-0.
In the 31st minute, Theresa McCullough played a ball to Grace White, who drew goalkeeper Makenna August off her line. White converted for a 2-0 Bears lead.
Texas A&M cut the deficit before halftime when Finley Lacher drove a low shot past keeper Alvarez with less than one minute remaining in the half, making it 2-1.
The Aggies were unable to find an equalizer in the second half. Baylor held on for the 2-1 victory, improving to 2-0 on the season.
