LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lisa Pederson is the acquisition and supply manager for the Lubbock Police Department, supplying anything an officer may need.
She ensures everyone that wears the badge is prepared for any event.
“Anything that really outfits an officer we have the supply in the event that something happens the have it,” Pederson said. “If an officer rips his pants, they shouldn’t have to wait for a while. They should be able to come get a pair of pants.”
“I want them to all feel supported, not just the ones that work the same hours I do,” Pederson said.
Pederson said she hopes to improve the new quartermaster suite to more accurately keep track of their supplies. Supplies include batteries, blood kits, medical supplies, Narcan, uniforms and handcuffs. She said she will answer the call from an officer in need of her help even in the middle of the night.
Lieutenant Brady Cross said employees like Pederson work behind the scenes to keep officers prepared and safe.
“But in a department our size of 450 plus sworn officers, it takes so many more people to keep us going,” Cross said. “People like Lisa Peterson are truly what keep us going.”
Beyond LPD, Pederson gives back to the community as the first woman Aerie president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, a social organization that has been around since 1898.
“In West Texas, there is a couple other women, but not as far up to become president,” Pederson said. “As I have made it through the chairs and now I am the current worthy president.”
As worthy president, Pederson has chosen High Point Village as this year’s recipient of the fraternity’s fundraising efforts.
“It reminded me of my first job with the state in Washington,” Pederson said. “I worked for Lakeland Village and I loved all the residents there. And finding out that there was a facility like that here in Lubbock, I knew that was the place I wanted to help.”
