LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A petition aiming to pause data center development in Lubbock will now go before city council.
The effort was guided by Stephen Sanders, founder of Citizens of Lubbock Against Data Centers. He said enough signatures have been validated by the city secretary.
About 3,000 people backed the 18-month moratorium on hyperscale data center development in the city limits.
The next regular meeting is next Tuesday, the 25th. If council members vote the measure down, it could head to voters in November.
