A Fort Worth man faces animal cruelty and terroristic threat charges after he allegedly threatened a neighbor with a gun and fatally injured the neighbor’s dog, police said.
Officers responded about 10 a.m. Sunday to a person with a weapon call near the 4700 block of Baytree Drive. When officers arrived, they learned that a man had pulled a gun on a neighbor and injured the neighbor’s dog, police said in a statement.
Investigators contacted the man, whose name has not been released, by phone after he was not found at home when officers arrived, police said.
The man told officers that he found two of his chickens dead and that he saw the dog in his backyard. He said he injured the dog and “tossed it back” over the fence into his neighbor’s yard, according to police.
The dog died, but its cause of death is unclear, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Fort Worth Animal Control took possession of the dead chickens and dog. Animal control officials said that it did not appear the dog was shot, according to police.
