Update on August 18 at 8:26 a.m.: The accident has been cleared, according to Sigalert. Delays are now only up to five minutes.

An accident on a major San Antonio highway is causing massive delays as locals head out across the city on their morning commute. Here’s what to know (and which area to avoid if you don’t want to get stuck).

According to Sigalert, an accident along northbound Interstate 35 near Universal City and Schertz has the two left lanes of the highway blocked off as of 7:47 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18. Traffic conditions for drivers are stop-and-go, and delays are reported to be stretching up to an hour. Sigalert says the accident was reported around 6:24 a.m. around FM-3009 and the Natural Bridge Caverns Road exit, and traffic is backed up to Loop 1604.

The cause of the accident, and whether anyone was hurt, is unclear.

Drivers on the other side of I-35 aren’t moving much faster, though. Road work on the southbound side of the highway close to Loop 1604 is causing delays of up to an hour as well, Sigalert reports. If you’re driving near the Olympia Parkway or Loop 1604 exits, expect stop-and-go traffic down to FM-482 and FM-2252.
