Three people were killed in a wrong-way crash that shut down Texas 121 near downtown Fort Worth early Tuesday, Aug. 18, police say. Two people, including a child, were injured.

Three people were killed a wrong-way crash that closed Texas 121 near downtown Fort Worth for several hours early Tuesday, police said. A child a man were injured.
The southbound lanes of Texas 121 were closed at Riverside Drive, but had reopened by 7:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation said on social media.
According to police, a Jeep was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Texas 121 about 1:20 a.m. A vehicle that moved to get out of the way was struck on the driver’s side in the back. No major injuries were reported, but a short time later the Jeep collided head on with a car occupied by four people.
The Jeep’s driver and two women in the car died at the scene, police said. The driver of the car and a child passenger, believed to be around 10 or 11 years old, were taken to a local hospital with injuries. They are both expected to survive.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will publicly identify the people who died.
Officers from the Traffic Investigation Unit are looking into the cause of the fatal crash. Anyone who has information or video of the accident is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.
