The Texas Rangers return to Arlington for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, August 18, taking on the Washington Nationals through Thursday before welcoming division rival Los Angeles Angels for a three-game weekend set running through Sunday, August 23.
Taylor Sheridan Throws Out First Pitch on Opening Night
Tuesday’s homestand opener against the Nationals carries an 7:05 p.m. first pitch, with Academy Award-nominated writer, director, producer, and actor Taylor Sheridan — creator of Yellowstone and Landman — delivering the ceremonial first pitch. Nashville-based singer-songwriter and American Idol Season 24 contestant Marissa Luna will perform the national anthem.
The first 10,000 fans through the gates on Wednesday, August 19, will receive a free All for Texas Football Jersey presented by QuikTrip, while Thursday’s crowd will pick up a Choctaw Lapel Pin giveaway. Dollar hot dogs ($1) return Wednesday courtesy of Texas Chili.
30th Anniversary of the 1996 Division Title Team
The centerpiece of the homestand is a full weekend of events honoring the 1996 Texas Rangers, the first squad in franchise history to win a division title and reach the postseason. Approximately 30 players, coaches, and executives from that club are expected back in Arlington, among them Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame members Rusty Greer, Iván Rodríguez, and Jeff Russell.
Celebrations begin Friday, August 21, with a 30th Anniversary Luncheon at the Live! by Loews Arlington hotel from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring a panel discussion with members of the ’96 roster and an artifacts display. Net proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Tickets remain available at rangers.com/luncheon.
Friday’s game against the Angels also tips off with ceremonial first pitches from content creators Dude Perfect, and the first 10,000 fans receive a Block Captain Bobblehead presented by Globe Life. The 2023 World Series Commissioner’s Trophy will be on display near Section 117 for photo opportunities.
On Saturday, August 22, the first 10,000 attendees will receive a 1996 Rangers Team Button-Down presented by Coca-Cola. All returning ’96 members will be honored during a pre-game on-field ceremony, culminating with that season’s Pitcher of the Year, Ken Hill, throwing a ceremonial first pitch to Rodríguez.
Down Syndrome Awareness Day Closes the Homestand
Sunday, August 23 marks the Rangers’ annual Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Fans who purchase specialty tickets through rangers.com/specialtynights will receive a limited-edition Down Syndrome is Cool cap.
The Burger Family Foundation — established in 2025 by first baseman Jake Burger and his wife Ashlyn following the birth of their daughter Penelope, who was born with Down syndrome — will operate a merchandise pop-up shop behind Section 142.
