CORPUS CHRISTI — The Port of Corpus Christi awarded $200,000 in funding through its Education Grant Program to two South Texas schools and school districts to strengthen STEM education, including $100,000 for Aransas Pass High School.
The Port Commission awarded the grants during an Aug. 18 meeting. The donation to Aransas Pass High School is intended to support initiatives designed to strengthen STEM education and workforce readiness for Coastal Bend students, according to a news release.
Corpus Christi ISD also received $100,000 through the grant program.
The funding provided to Aransas Pass High School will help establish a Process Technology Dual-Enrollment Program in partnership with Del Mar College, according to the release. The initiative aims to create direct pathways for students to earn college credit and gain specialized technical training tailored to careers in the industrial, manufacturing, energy and maritime sectors.
“The Port of Corpus Christi is committed to investing in educational opportunities that prepare students for the careers of tomorrow while supporting the workforce needs of our region,” Port of Corpus Christi Director of Government & Community Affairs Rosaura De Los Santos Bailey said in the release. “These programs will provide students with valuable hands-on experiences and create pathways to high-demand careers that are essential to the continued growth of the Coastal Bend.”
