Paxson cleared to continue Aransas Pass work while serving on Corpus Christi City Council

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Kaylynn Paxson can continue working as an economic development consultant for the City of Aransas Pass while serving on the Corpus Christi City Council after officials determined there is no conflict of interest.

Paxson, who is serving as mayor pro tem and is running for Corpus Christi mayor.

Aransas Pass City Council members had raised questions about whether Paxson’s work for the city could conflict with her responsibilities as a Corpus Christi councilmember.

Paxson said the two roles do not overlap because Corpus Christi handles and votes on its own economic development matters, while Aransas Pass city leaders consider her recommendations before making their own decisions.

“I would rely on the staff in the city of Corpus Christi to negotiate the deals there,” Paxson said. “The elected officials would rely on me in the city of Aransas Pass to negotiate the deals there.”

With no conflict of interest found, Paxson will continue her economic development work with Aransas Pass alongside her responsibilities on Corpus Christi City Council.
