BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Manager said there is a proposed $2.6 billion dollar proposed budget but the big headline is for taxpayers- the county is proposing to hold the tax rate steady.
County Manager David Smith says even though the county faces a 1.3 % decline in taxable property values, meaning less revenue at a time when cost of providing services remains high.
Despite the challenges the proposed budget allows Bexar County to maintain its current level of service without increasing the overall property tax but this isn’t a done deal yet.
On September 15, county commissioners are expected to consider the budget.
We will have to wait to see what happens and things need to happen pretty quick after that because the new fiscal year begins on October 1.
