Fort Worth’s bustling South Main Street will get a new bar — with a piece of local history inside.
David “Catfish” Flores, a Near Southside bartender, has plans to open ‘Sink or Swim,’ a dive bar that would be at 104 South Main St.
The bar would be a no-frills, old-school dive bar, Flores said, with beer, shots and mixed drinks, plus pool tables.
Sink or Swim will also come with a piece of Near Southside history: the bar from Shipping and Receiving, the beloved South Main bar inside the Supreme Golf warehouse.
Shipping and Receiving, which opened in 2013, played host to many Fort Worth musicians, including Leon Bridges, before it closed in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bar itself was removed from the building before Distribution Bar, its current occupant, moved in — but it stayed in the hands of the family of Tom Reynolds, one of South Main Village’s pioneers. Reynolds also served on multiple Fort Worth commissions.
Reynolds died in April 2025 — but a piece of his legacy will live on in Flores’ new bar.
Local artist Jay Wilkinson will also be painting a mural on the bar’s exterior, Flores said. Ames Fender is the architect.
Flores told the Star-Telegram he hopes to open later this year.
The property is owned by the Reynolds family and managed by Northern Crain Realty.
