EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person is dead and two people have been detained by El Paso Police after an incident involving SWAT Tuesday, Aug. 18 in West El Paso.
Police have described it as a “suspicious death” and the Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating.
Police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said police were initially called out at about 3 p.m. for an “unknown problem” along the 6800 block of Villa Hermosa.
When officers arrived, they found one person who was dead and two other individuals who ended up barricading themselves in a home, Oviedo said.
SWAT was called out to help with the situation.
The two individuals who barricaded themselves in the home later “came out of the home unharmed,” she said.
The two individuals – identified only as a man and woman in their late 20s – have been detained but have not been officially arrested.
One person was seen being transported from the scene with what a Fire spokesman described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Oviedo said she could not identify who the person was who was transported or how they were related to the incident.
The investigation is still in its preliminary stages and police will be on scene for several more hours, maybe until the morning.
