Animal Care Services is searching for the owner of a bull calf found wandering through a Walmart parking lot on the South Side.

The calf, nicknamed “Moodini” by ACS after leading authorities on a brief chase, was spotted Tuesday afternoon in the 1200 block of Southeast Military Drive.

ACS spokesperson Lisa Norwood said several shoppers saw Moodini approaching the store before police arrived. Livestock are not legally allowed to roam within San Antonio, she said.

Officers began herding Moodini toward a nearby green space for safety, but the calf had other plans.

Moodini made a run for it, heading into a large underground drainage tunnel, Norwood said. He traveled some distance through the tunnel before stopping for a brief rest.

ACS officers safely removed the calf and loaded him onto a livestock trailer, but not before posing for a few photos with the escape artist.

Anyone who recognizes Moodini or has information about his owner is asked to call 311.
