EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 25-year-old man has been arrested on Monday in connection with Friday’s deadly crash on I-10 in East El Paso that killed a 72-year-old man.
According to the El Paso Police Department, Julian Lujan was placed under arrest on Monday for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle for the collision that occurred on Aug. 14 on I-10 East at mile marker 34A.
Police said 72-year-old Alberto Gonzalez Juarez died from injuries he suffered following the crash that happened at around 4:51 a.m. on I-10 East at Loop 375 North.
According to investigators, a 2026 Black GMC Sierra pickup truck was going the wrong way and crashed into a red 2007 Toyota Yaris being driven by Juarez.
Juarez, an El Paso resident, was rushed to the hospital, where he unfortunately died.
Police identified Lujan, a San Elizario resident, as the driver of the black pickup truck.
According to police, this is the 36th traffic death of 2026, compared to 37 this same time in 2025.
