Soon Denton will be bustling again for the 98th annual North Texas Fair & Rodeo. Each night of the fair will feature rodeos, live music, exhibits and carnival fun from August 21 through 30.
The fair will take place on the 33 acres of the North Texas Fairgrounds.
This year, rising Texas country singer-songwriter Braxton Keith will kick off the fair on the Miller Lite Main Stage. Other scheduled artists include Chris Cagle, Ned LeDoux, Jake Hooker & The Outsiders, Kody West, Tyce Delk, William Clark Green, Josh Meloy, Aaron Watson, Diamond Rio and Los Pescadores Del Rio Conchos.
Other concerts at the Cool Zone Revolver stage will feature local artists and upcoming talent from across the country including Jon Jon Perry, MYLA, Sarah Schafer and more.
In the evenings, fairgoers can check out the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo, which will showcase mutton busting, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wresting and bareback riding.
Fairgoers can also check out the photography competition, the beauty pageant, rodeo queen contest, creative arts contest, youth art contest, baking contest, horse show and cook-offs happening during the fair.
The free parade will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at the corner of Elm and Parkway, and it’ll end at that same corner. Other fun activities include the livestock shows, family activities and the carnival midway. There will also be local vendors and concession stands selling funnel cakes, corn dogs, barbecue and more delicious food.
August 21-30, gates open at 1 p.m. on the weekends and 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and close around 1 a.m. at the North Texas Fairgrounds, 2217 N. Carroll Blvd., Denton. Tickets are $8 for kids 7 to 12, and $23 to $33 for adults depending on day. ntfair.com.
