EL PASO, Texas (KBTX) – An 18-year-old from Bryan is facing a pair of charges following a deadly crash last weekend in El Paso, KBTX has confirmed.
According to documents obtained from the El Paso Police Department, Jose Angel Hernandez Gallegos was the driver of a pickup truck that slammed into a utility pole on Sunday.
Police say a passenger in the truck, Cesar Chavez Guillen, 33, of El Paso, was killed. A third person in the pickup was injured but survived.
Gallegos is charged with Intoxicated Assault with a Vehicle and Intoxicated Manslaughter with a Vehicle. His bonds total $150,000.
According to a report from KTSM, Gallego reportedly consumed 14 beers before the crash and may have been distracted by a cell phone when the crash happened outside a gate at Fort Bliss.
