CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Two Corpus Christi sisters are getting national attention after turning their school chocolate fundraiser into a sweet success.
Makaela and Kameryn de la Garza, students at Yeager Elementary School, are featured in World’s Finest Chocolate’s national “Let Them Reign” campaign, which highlights children who stand out while raising money for their schools and organizations.

The sisters joined 3NEWS First Edition on Thursday alongside Daphne Kumar with World’s Finest Chocolate to talk about the recognition and how they became part of the campaign.
Kumar said the company calls standout young fundraisers “Rainmakers” and that the program is about more than the amount of money raised.
“These are the children who are truly exceptional at raising funds for their schools, for their clubs,” Kumar said. “It’s not just about raising funds, it’s about teaching life skills that will stay with them forever.”
Makaela and Kameryn said they sold 45 and 40 boxes of chocolate, respectively. Their sales pitch? They showed 3NEWS it doesn’t have to be complicated.
“Would you like to buy chocolate? It’s $1 each,” one of the sisters said during the interview. The sisters said they were happy and surprised to learn they would be featured in the national campaign.
The “Let Them Reign” campaign celebrates young fundraisers and the skills they develop while raising money for their schools and communities.
And despite their newfound national recognition, Makaela and Kameryn aren’t finished. Both said they plan to keep selling chocolate.
