After a decade as dean of the College of Engineering, Peter Crouch announced his intention to step down and return to the faculty.
Crouch will continue serving in his leadership role until a permanent successor is appointed, according to an email from the Office of the Provost.
In early September, UTA Provost Tamara Brown will host a collegewide town hall to provide additional information about the search process and collect input from faculty and staff on the qualities and priorities for the college’s next leader, according to the email.
After a new dean is hired, Crouch will return to his faculty appointment. The target transition date is the end of the 2026-27 academic year.
Crouch joined the university in 2016 as a professor of electrical engineering and the college’s dean. Under his guidance, the college has set multiple records in enrollment and research expenditures and added three undergraduate degree programs, two graduate degree programs and multiple certificates, according to the university website.
He came to UTA with 21 years of experience as the dean of Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and dean of engineering at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Other executive leadership searches include the College of Nursing and Health Innovation dean and the vice provost for the Division of Faculty Success.
Earlier this month, the university welcomed Goutham Menon as the interim dean for the School of Social Work. Menon most recently served as dean of Loyola University Chicago’s School of Social Work.
The university will begin a national search for a permanent social work dean this fall, according to a news release from the school.
