A new study by Pew Research shows a growing fear among Gen Zer’s under the age of 30 acknowledging AI is a real threat. Seventy-three percent of adults under 30 now say AI will lead to fewer jobs, up from 61% two years ago. The Gen Zer’s join the older generations who across all age groups- results showed -71 percent feel this way.
Workplace expert Chris Westfall says this generation needs to stop buying into what the AI leaders want you to believe and tap into Houston’s job market. “Job growth in the city of Houston in June- was the highest it has been in the last 5 years. Healthcare, construction, business services, even leisure and hospitality- these are growing sectors.” He said.
Westfall says this group needs to get out there and explore instead of being paralyzed by fear or using their parents as a safety net. “Legitimate fears but you have to look beyond the headlines and remember you have options. These headlines are being generated by Tech Billionaires to drive market dominance, increase their stock price, and control the narrative.” Westfall said.
As the job market shows promising numbers, with the unemployment rate just over 4 percent, the lowest level since the end of World War II according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
