Klein native and Class of 1979 Aggie Lyle Lovett plays the music for a new Texas A&M University video campaign celebrating time-honored Aggie traditions.

Lovett, with his Aggie ring worn, plays a remake of the song “Let’s Work Together” on a country porch with a guitar while Aggie students collaborate in the fields of research, health, engineering, agriculture, military service, public service, education and community service.

“Higher education is very good at telling people what institutions contain: rankings, research, programs, facilities and accomplishments,” said R. Ethan Braden, vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at Texas A&M. “Those things matter, but they do not always tell people what an institution means. We want people to see Texas A&M and understand something meaningful about us when they do. ‘Together, We Stand as a Force for Good’ is intended to connect the extraordinary work of Aggies through one clear idea people can understand and remember.”

Scenes in the film include researchers pursuing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets raising the American flag, students serving their community through a yearly service event and Aggie sports teams working together.

“The humanity at Texas A&M is what’s consistent. What is, I think, fundamental to all Aggies is the idea of core values. You can read down the list of core values that you find on the A&M website, and I think people who become part of the university, whether it’s the university in College Station or the university system across the state, share belief in those values,” Lovett said in the release. “Walking across campus and simply saying howdy to people who cross your path — I mean, that’s one of the greatest examples of how Aggies are interested in others.”
