A west Fort Worth high school was placed on lockdown for a short time Friday morning after reports of possible shots fired inside the building that turned out to be fireworks, police said.
Police were called to Arlington Heights High School, located at 4501 West Freeway, about 8:15 a.m. School resource officers and neighborhood patrol officers from around the city also responded to the school, Fort Worth police said in a news release.
When the officers arrived, they learned that a student or students had set off fireworks in one of the bathrooms, the release states. The lockdown was lifted, and school administrators are reviewing video from inside the building in an attempt to see who was responsible.
Police are also investigating the incident, according to the release.
“At this time, there is no active threat at the school,” police said in the release.
