The time is upon us when Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington is trading summer thrills for haunted mazes, trick-or-treating and steins as its fall celebrations return.
From Sept. 11 through Nov. 1, there will be a slew of autumn events to check out including Fright Fest, Tricks and Treats and Oktoberfest.
Fright Fest will be on select nights and will feature haunted houses, outdoor scare zones, live shows and Halloween-themed food and beverages.
The haunted houses lineup includes the new Doc Varnum’s Hybrid Hell Pit. It will be a backwoods-inspired sideshow realm that blends immersive horror, live entertainment and hybrid creatures.
Another haunted house will be inspired by the Conjuring universe. Guests brave enough to enter will face Annabelle’s malevolent stare, flee the Nun’s unholy presence and survive the Perron farmhouse’s demonic forces.
Other haunted houses include “The Strangers: No Escape,” inspired by the films The Strangers: Chapters 1 & 2; “Saw: Legacy of Terror,” inspired by the Saw movie franchise; “EverSmile Industries presented by M&M’s,” which invites visitors to a retro-futuristic factory tour where perfection comes at a cost; and “Terror at the Polynesian Palm presented by Skittles,” which is centered around an abandoned hotel and a mysterious island legend, and offers new and enhanced scares.
Returning scare zones include Outlaw’s Revenge, Forsaken Fairgrounds, The Last Harvest and The Plague, along with a new Día de los Muertos scare zone in the park’s Mexico section.
This year will also have the debut of “Wake the Dead,” an interactive musical mystery that allows guests to help determine the outcome of a family murder investigation through audience participation. Other shows include “The Awakening,” “The Spectral Sisters” and “Ballet de Folklórico: Día de los Muertos.”
The family-friendly Tricks and Treats will feature Trick-or-Treat Trail, a kids’ costume contest, hay bale maze, pumpkin and mask painting and Casa Magnética, the park’s venerable crooked house. Also planned are a Skelebration Dance Party, the Looney Tunes Spooktacular Dance Party and new magic performances by Mike Williams.
Oktoberfest at Six Flags Over Texas will have German-inspired food and beverages, music and interactive games. Activities will include Last Stein Standing and the daily Tap Zee Keg ceremony. Plus performances by the Guttentag Players and the Über Oompah Band.
