Carmelita Espinosa, 59, was sitting outside the home when a 58-year-old man attempted to back up his vehicle. Police said the driver became distracted and accidentally shifted the vehicle into drive instead of reverse.

The vehicle moved forward, striking Espinosa and pinning her underneath.

Earlier information from police indicated Espinosa had been sitting in a metal chair between a fence and a Ford Expedition when she was struck.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but Espinosa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police previously said there were no visible signs of criminal activity involving the driver.
