Which Houston ZIP codes are the noisiest? New HPD data shows where residents reported the most noise complaints in 2026.

Houston is known for its slab culture, Space City identity, rodeo, and the world’s largest medical complex—and, according to Houston Police Department (HPD) data, its noise.
According to data obtained by Chron through a public records request, HPD logged 11,678 noise-related calls for service citywide between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2026. Of those calls, about 19 percent (2,194 complaints) were deemed to be valid, while just 36 resulted in a ticket and 107 resulted in an official report.

But a closer look at the data reveals more about where, when and what types of noise complaints Houston residents reported during the first half of the year.
When Houston’s noise complaints peaked
Houston was apparently at its noisiest in May. That month, 2,186 complaints were logged—roughly 19 percent of the six-month total. May also had the highest daily average, with about 71 complaints per day.

The saying goes, “Never leave Houston on a Sunday,” and the data suggests plenty of people were making noise at home—or out on the town.
Sunday generated the most complaints—nearly 26 percent of the total—followed by Saturday. Combined, the two weekend days accounted for more than half of all complaints.
The complaints also clustered late at night. The busiest hour was 11 p.m. to midnight, accounting for roughly 13 percent of all complaints. Nearly 46 percent occurred between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Still, thousands of calls did not necessarily mean a noise violation was confirmed. About 76.5 percent of all reported complaints were classified as “False Sound,” meaning officers did not confirm that the reported noise was violating city rules.

Houston’s ‘noisiest’ ZIP code
Houston’s 77004 ZIP code was the ‘noisiest’ overall in the first six months of 2026, with a total of 513 complaints—114 of which were deemed valid, plus six that were ticketed. The 77004 ZIP code encompasses much of the city’s historic Third Ward, also spanning through the vicinity of Midtown, the Museum District, the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.
About 34 percent of complaints (176 total) involved loud noise from a bar or club. Of those, 40—approximately 23 percent—were deemed valid. Additionally, five of the six ticketed complaints involved noise from a bar or club.

For years, Third Ward residents have raised concerns about noise and other disruptions associated with partying and nightlife, according to the Houston Chronicle. In May 2025, the Houston Police Department launched a specialized squad dedicated to addressing noise, trash and other complaints related to nightlife venues in Third Ward and beyond.
The second-most reported complaint in 77004 was industrial noise, accounting for approximately 18 percent of all complaints (92 complaints), of which 19 were deemed valid. One of the six tickets issued was related to industrial noise.
Loud noise from residences and apartments nearly tied for third place, together accounting for approximately 28 percent of all complaints (142 complaints), a combined 30 of which were deemed valid.

While 77004 had the highest number of complaints overall—and the most tickets issued—another ZIP code stood out for having the highest proportion of valid complaints among the top 10. In 77002, which largely encompasses Downtown Houston and the Theater District, 75 of 309 complaints were deemed valid, or roughly 24.3 percent.

Three ZIP codes tie for Houston’s ‘quietest’
At the other end of the spectrum, three ZIP codes tied for the lowest number of noise complaints: 77014 in Northwest Houston along the FM 1960 corridor near Willowbrook, 77532 in Barrett/Crosby area and 77587 in South Houston.

Each of three ZIP codes reported one complaint, either related to loud noise from a residence or apartment, and none were deemed valid.
