CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Police are investigating a stabbing on Friday that left a woman injured and her son dead.
Officers responded to the 4600 block of Yorktown Boulevard at 2:24 p.m. after receiving reports that a man had stabbed his mother. Upon arrival, officers found neighbors had held down and detained the suspect. Witnesses said the male suspect had stabbed the female victim.
Officers took custody of the man and placed him in a patrol vehicle, where he quickly went into physical distress. Officers then requested medical assistance from the fire department.
Both the suspect and the victim were transported to local hospitals, where the suspect was later pronounced dead. Investigators have not yet determined his cause of death. Detectives are looking into whether narcotics or mental health played a role.
The victim remains in stable condition. Both individuals live in the neighborhood, though authorities have not released their names.
