Bexar County residents will be able to get free flu shots through a series of county-sponsored vaccination events this fall.
University Health and Bexar County Commissioners Court have jointly organized four drive-through influenza vaccination events, which will take place in each of the county’s precincts throughout September and October.
The first clinic, hosted by Pct. 1 Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, will be held Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pct. 1 satellite office located on 3505 Pleasanton Road.
Another clinic, hosted by Pct. 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert, will be held Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon at Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E Houston St.
A third clinic, hosted by Pct. 2 Commissioner Justin Rodriguez, will be held Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon at Gustafson Stadium, 7001 Culebra Rd.
The final clinic, hosted by Pct. 3 Commissioner Grant Moody, will be held Oct. 10 from 8 a.m. to noon at Dub Farris Athletic Complex, 8400 North Loop 1604 W.
Flu season starts in October and ends in May, peaking from December through February. The Center for Disease Control recommends the influenza vaccine for all people older than six months who do not have health conditions that would make it unsafe.
