We are about 20 minutes away from match two of the day, so don’t go anywhere.

No. 2 Texas will take on No. 12 Arizona State at 7 p.m. ET to wrap up the action of the AVCA First Serve Day 2. Unlike match one, neither of these teams played last night, so it’ll be our first look at the squads in the 2026 season.

Before the first serve, let’s get a quick breakdown on the teams.

Arizona State volleyball

No. 2 Texas

The Longhorns will take the court as the AVCA preseason No. 2 team, bringing back a veteran class that makes them the heavy favorite tonight against the Sun Devils. Texas’ 2025 season ended in a heart-breaking regional final loss inside Greggory Gym to Wisconsin. But most of the Longhorn stars are back, including outsides Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears, who make the offensive attack hard to stop.

No. 12 Arizona State

Let’s not count out Arizona State, however. The Sun Devils are coming off a Big 12 title in 2025 and ended the season looking strong despite a third round loss to Creighton in the NCAA tournament. They enter Fiserv Forum with some star power of their own in opposite hitter Noemie Glover.

The two programs actually have a scattered but long-standing history, with their first NCAA face off occurring in 1981.

Keep up with all the action here.
