SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized on Saturday after an off-duty San Antonio police officer shot him during an alleged road rage incident near the airport, according to police.
Officers responded to the shooting around 5 p.m. near Northeast Loop 410 and Airport Boulevard.
Police said the off-duty officer told investigators the man began driving aggressively and chased him in his vehicle.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly crossed multiple lanes of traffic and struck another vehicle before pulling alongside the officer’s stopped vehicle. The officer told police he believed the man was about to pull out a firearm.
The off-duty officer then retrieved his weapon and fired at the suspect’s vehicle, police said. The officer called police and waited until officers arrived.
The suspect, 50, was later found at a residence after emergency crews were called for a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
