SAN ANTONIO — A struggle over a handgun left a woman hospitalized Saturday morning after she was shot as a result on the city’s Northeast Side.
The incident happened around 11:29 a.m. Saturday, on the 7300 block of Azalea Square.
According to SAPD, officers arrived and found the woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her upper extremities.
The woman told police she had allegedly been arguing with a man when he retrieved a handgun and attempted to shoot himself. Police said the woman tried to intervene and grabbed the firearm, leading to a struggle in which she was struck by gunfire.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The man’s arrest was made after the incident.
