SAN ANTONIO — A family held a fundraiser Sunday to help raise money for a specialized service dog for their daughter, who has epilepsy.

The fundraiser, organized by a close family friend of Lorie Ramirez, took place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse Lounge on Cincinnati Avenue. The fundraiser was to help cover the cost of a specialized service dog for Ramirez’s daughter, Savanna, and alleviate the financial strain brought on by ongoing medical care.
Savanna faces daily seizures and will undergo brain surgery in two months. Ramirez hopes a seizure alert dog could give Savanna an extra layer of support and help make sure someone is there when she needs help.
The event brought supporters together to raise funds for the dog, while also aiming to build awareness around the challenges faced by families navigating epilepsy.
