Fort Worth restaurants were cited for roaches, rodent droppings and other violations in the latest round of city health inspections.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data based on 189 inspections from Aug. 2 through Aug. 15.
Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours.
Two restaurants had high demerit scores:
Habaneros Fresh Mex Café at 5601 Basswood Blvd., Suite 137. Score: 25.
Peak Restaurant And Bar at 2901 Fair Drive, Suite 190. Score: 25.
One restaurant had issues with rodent droppings:
Good Luck Café at 5433 Ramey Ave. Health inspectors observed rodent droppings on the floor next to a hole near the water heater. Inspectors also noted a tomato with black organic matter on it and pork chops stored above cut potatoes. Score: 16.
Restaurant with roach-related issues and other violations:
Mexican Inn Cafe at 5017 S. Hulen St. Inspectors found roaches in the kitchen and food stored at unsafe temperatures. Score: 21.
Paris Coffee Shop at 704 W Magnolia Ave. Inspectors observed live roach activity, gnats inside the establishment and food residue on equipment and kitchen walls. Score: 9.
Bella Pasta & Pizza at 3548 South Hills Ave., Suite 19. Inspectors observed a dead roach inside a bowl at the three-compartment sink. Score: 7.
Keke’s Breakfast Cafe at 3000 S. Hulen St., Suite 110. Inspectors observed one live roach inside the restaurant. Score: 5.
La Quinta Inn & Suites at 4900 Bryant Irvin Road. Inspectors observed a dead roach under the three-compartment sink. Score: 5.
Fort Behavioral Health at 7140 Oakmont Blvd. Inspectors observed a dead roach in the dry storage area by the back door. Score: 2.
Louisiana Seafood and Fish Market at 1505 E. Berry St. Inspectors found water from a hand-washing sink discharging through an open drain pipe onto the floor, uncovered containers of fish products, and heavy grease buildup in vent-hood filters.
