Left-hander Jagger Haynes was solid in the start, but Triple-A El Paso’s bats were quiet in an 8-0 loss on Sunday to visiting Round Rock.

Haynes (0-4, 7.13 ERA) struck out four and allowed one run on two hits, three walks and a hit batter.

It was Haynes’ fourth and best start since a promotion from Double-A San Antonio, where he had a 4.37 ERA in 94 ⅔ innings to start the year.

Haynes has struck out 20, walked 16 and allowed a .260 batting average in 24 innings so far with El Paso.

Haynes is ranked No. 14 in the Padres system by MLB.com.

Right-hander Hunter Stratton (0.00 ERA) struck out two of the four batters he faced.

Left fielder Samad Taylor (.901 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a walk in continuing his oblique rehab.

Second baseman Gage Workman (.462 OPS) went 2-for-4, while catcher Ethan Salas (.949 OPS) went 0-for-4.

El Paso is 50-75.

Northwest Arkansas 7, Missions 2: LHP Fernando Sanchez (1-3, 5.09 ERA) allowed two runs in 3⅔ innings in the loss. RHP Garrett Hawkins (6.38 ERA) allowed two runs in the ninth. DH Alex McCoy (.897 OPS) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts to snap an eight-game hitting streak to start his promotion to the Missions. 1B Romeo Sanabria (.786 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and LF Albert Fabian (.741 OPS) drove in two runs on his 10th homer.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (50-68)

Great Lakes 2, TinCaps 0 (10): RHP Kannon Kemp (4.66 ERA) struck out four over five shutout innings in the start. He scattered three hits and two walks. The TinCaps’ only extra-base hit among their four hits was a double from RF Conner Westenburg (.576 OPS). CF Ryan Wideman (.559 OPS) stole two bases, giving him 22 since his promotion and 65 on the season.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (61-59)

San Jose 5, Storm 0: RHP Luis Maracara (6.51 ERA) struck out seven over four shutout innings in the start. He allowed three hits and hit a batter. SS Elliot Lascelles (1.133 OPS) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. The only Storm hits were a single from DH Joe Tiroly (.845 OPS) and a double from C Truitt Madonna (.674 OPS).
