More than 42,000 UTSA students return Monday as fall semester begins after cyber delay

SAN ANTONIO — More than 42,000 students are returning to UT San Antonio on Monday for the fall 2026 semester after the recent cyber breach.

This includes more than 6,000 freshmen taking their very first courses at the university.

Classes were supposed to start last Wednesday, but the university delayed the fall semester because of a cyber attack. UTSA said the breach was detected before it reached the university core systems.

Any student, faculty, or staff member that hasn’t reset their school pass phrase yet still needs to do so.
