Construction for a presidential helicopter will partially take place in Fort Worth, according to a July 31 contract from the Department of War.
The award for over $107 million will provide for the design, testing, and integration of rotor blades for a VH-92A presidential helicopter.
The contract was awarded to aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin. Though based in Connecticut, Sikorsky also operates in Grapevine.
The majority of the work will be done in Stratford, Connecticut, and West Palm Beach, Florida, though 2% of the work will be performed in Fort Worth.
The VH-92A, will replace the current fleet of presidential helicopters.
Last week, President Donald Trump displayed part of the new multimillion dollar helicopter landing pad on the south lawn of the White House.
At the time of the award, $18.4 million had been obligated.
