If you’ve ever wondered how to turn your art into a little more of a hustle, the Lubbock Arts Alliance has something you should probably check out.

The Lubbock Arts Alliance Emerging Artist Program is designed for newer visual artists who want to learn what it actually takes to sell their work at festivals. We’re talking about the stuff nobody really teaches you when you’re busy creating: pricing, marketing, setting up a booth, presenting your work, dealing with customers and actually making the sale.

Participants will go through four in-person workshops led by experienced artists and festival professionals. You’ll also get professional feedback on your work and how you present it.

And here’s the really cool part: complete the program and you’ll receive a complimentary booth at the 49th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival, happening April 10th and 11th, 2027, at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. You’ll also keep 100% of your art sales from the festival.

This Could Be the Push a New Artist Needs

While visual artists are encouraged to apply, there’s a little extra emphasis this year on what I’d call the old-school arts and crafts.

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, organizers are especially encouraging artists who work in traditional and heritage mediums such as leatherwork, quilting, woodworking, metal arts, ceramics and fiber arts to apply.

So, are you ready to take the leap?

The cost isn’t outrageous. There’s a $25 application fee, and if you’re accepted into the program, there’s another $150 participation fee. That’s $175 total for someone who gets into the program.

The first workshop begins September 19th, with additional workshops in October, November and February before the Lubbock Arts Festival in April. One important thing to know: participants have to attend all four workshops to receive the complimentary festival booth.

Applications are due August 31st, so there’s not a ton of time to sit around thinking about it. You can jump to that process here.
