LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -After a 3-7 run in 2025, the Lubbock High Westerners have high hopes for 2026- especially after ending the season with a 42-35 win over rival Coronado. It was an unfavorable coin flip that denied the Westerners a trip to the playoffs.
Head coach Juan Rodriguez says LHS has the playmakers compete, even against a demanding schedule- both in district and non-district play.
“I think what separates this group from the last three is the consistency on work ethic and getting better. The unity that they have both on and off the field has been really amazing, and they speak the same language. They talk the same way. They understand their responsibilities of what it takes to be a Lubbock High Westerner,” he said. “And, they encourage one another. They are definitely the guys that we built. The younger groups along with our juniors and seniors have been the kids that we focused on since we’ve been here.”
