A staple of Texas Tech’s recruiting plan has been to build elite talent along both sides of the line of scrimmage. The 2026 class was the first high school recruiting class with five-star caliber players signed along the offensive line.
Texas Tech fans know that when head coach Joey McGuire fires out a Rick Flair GIF on X, a commitment is not far behind. Five-star offensive tackle Austin Attalah’s official announcement came live on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Attalah ranks as a five-star recruit, the No. 27 overall prospect in the country, and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation. Attalah is the second commit of the Red Raiders‘ 2028 class as he joins three-star kicker Luc Normand, the No. 1 kicker in the country.
According to 247Sports national scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, Attalah “Projects as a high-major tackle who could become a pro prospect.” These early commits can help set the table for another top-10 nationally ranked class for the Red Raiders.
