A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a search and charged with murder after a shooting on Brooks Drive left a 20-year-old dead on Tuesday morning.

According to CCPD PIO Madeline Commons, CCPD detectives with Robbery/Homicide Division were able to obtain a murder warrant for 24-year-old Julian Hinojosa.

She said Hinojosa was taken into custody in the 3000 block of Horne Rd with the assistance of CCPD’s SWAT Team, Drone Unit, Gang Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, and the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday afternoon.

Hinojosa was transported to Main Station to be formally interviewed by Detectives and then transported to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi police and SWAT are executing a search warrant in the 3000 block of Horne Road and Winters Dr, in connection with a deadly shooting earlier Tuesday.

The search comes after a man in his early 20s was shot on Brooks Drive. CCPD told 3NEWS that one person from the Horne Road scene is being taken to the police station, but it is not clear who that person is or whether they have been arrested.

Police were called to the 300 block of Brooks Drive around 1:21 a.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting.

Officers found the man with a gunshot wound and provided first aid until medics arrived. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police said a disturbance happened before the shooting and that the people involved knew each other. Multiple people were detained at the scene for questioning.
