A trendy Asian-inspired blind box retailer is growing its footprint in Central Texas with a new concept set for Texas’ capital city. Teso Group plans to build the first Teso X stores in Texas in the Austin area next year.

Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filings show Teso X will be moving into Barton Creek Square in Austin and Lakeline Mall in Cedar Park, a suburb north of Austin. Teso X is an Asian-inspired, collectible toy store and arcade known for its viral mystery collectibles, anime merchandise and claw machines.

These new filings come as Teso Group now seeks to expand in Texas’ capital city after opening stores in other parts of Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Houston and San Antonio. In July, the Austin Business Journal reported that Teso Group was in the process of building its first Austin location at The Linc, located at 6404 N. IH-35 Frontage Road.

That same month, MySA reported that Teso Life was plotting its third San Antonio storefront near City Base. Teso Group’s latest Austin filings are for two “Teso X” concepts, which are specialized hobby, toy, and arcade stores, while Teso Life is a larger, general Asian lifestyle department store.

There are currently no standalone TESO X stores in Texas, but the company operates two locations in New York. The Teso Group also has six Teso Life department stores across Texas.

Construction on both of Texas’ first Teso X stores is expected to begin on October 30 and is slated to finish by January 30, 2027. MySA reached out to Teso Group and Barton Creek to see when the company plans to open both stores.
