CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Corpus Christi Independent School District employee assigned to Dawson Elementary was arrested on a sexual assault charge last week, according to jail records.

3NEWS was sent a copy of the arrest affidavit, which details what happened and why Benjamin Castro was arrested.

According to the affidavit, an officer working off duty at a local hospital was advised that there was a call at the location due to a 17-year-old that gave birth and told staff the father was supposedly 32-years-old.
The officer, along with another, met with a social worker, who advised them that the victim met Castro on Snapchat, and later met up in person at his residence, where he sexually assaulted her, the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, Castro was aware that the victim was 16-years-old when they met, and they met almost daily from Dec. 5, to Dec. 20th of 2025. The victim stopped speaking to Castro, but he continued to reach out to her on another social media platform, where he asked if she was pregnant. The victim confirmed the pregnancy to Castro, and told him she did not wish to speak with him anymore.
The victim, according to the affidavit, allowed authorities to review the messages from Castro to her social media accounts. In one of the messages, Castro asks what the baby’s name is. When the victim tells him, Castro later responds with “I’m surprised you didn’t give him my first or middle name.”
The detective assigned to the case found that the information was sufficient to arrest Castro for Sexual Assault, Texas Penal Code Section 22.011, a second-degree felony. He was arrested on a charge of sexual assault and listed with a $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
Earlier in the week, parents at Dawson Elementary said they received a message from CCISD Police over the weekend notifying them that a district employee assigned to the school had recently been arrested.
The district said it acted immediately after learning about the arrest and placed the employee on administrative leave.
3NEWS reached out to CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke for more information about the arrest and the employee’s status.
Warnke confirmed Castro is on administrative leave while the investigation continues. He also said there is currently no evidence indicating the incident was connected to Dawson Elementary or the campus.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is investigating the case, according to Warnke.
