Six Flags is making a major corporate shakeup, moving its headquarters from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Arlington, Texas, in 2027, the amusement park company announced Tuesday, August 25.
The new headquarters will be at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, which has housed part of Six Flags’ corporate workforce since 2020. It will serve as the primary hub for the company’s corporate leadership and shared business functions, according to the release.
The move brings company leadership closer to Six Flags’ five Texas parks, including Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. The company operates 34 amusement and water parks and nine resorts across North America.
“The decision to return the Company’s headquarters to Arlington is a continuation of our efforts to evolve the organization and enhance operational efficiency,” Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly stated in the release. “After an extensive review, we determined that concentrating our personnel, processes, and decision-making in our Arlington office, where a portion of Six Flags corporate employees are located, is the best path forward for the Company.”
Reilly added the office will help enhance collaboration across functions, strengthen its culture, and improve coordination among its new executive leaders.
The company says many Charlotte employees will have the opportunity to relocate to Arlington, and Six Flags plans to keep investing in Carowinds and Carolina Harbor in North Carolina.
The move to Texas comes after Six Flags announced it would sell seven of its parks to Kansas City-based EPR Properties for $331 million, according to a March 6 news release. Six Flags said the sale would help the company pay down debt. Reilly stated the sale would sharpen focus and optimize the company’s portfolio.
