Summer Music Series
Kick off your weekend with live music at the Summer Music Series on Friday, Aug. 28 from 6–8 p.m. at Home Plate at Texas Rangers Golf Club. This week’s featured artist, The Calamity Janes, will perform inside Home Plate while guests enjoy food and beverage specials throughout the evening.
There’s no cover charge, and walk-ins are welcome as space allows, but advance registration is encouraged. RSVP by calling (817) 575-8299.
Paint with Me: Pop Art
Turn up the color and creativity at Paint with Me: Pop Art on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 2–4 p.m. at George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. Create a vibrant canvas inspired by the bold style of Pop Art while learning simple painting techniques in a fun, relaxed setting. All supplies are provided, and the class is open to ages 13 and up with space limited to the first 12 participants.
Creature Features: Turtles
Get up close with some shelled stars at Creature Features: Turtles on Saturday, Aug. 29 at River Legacy Nature Center. Meet Sweetness, an African mud turtle, and Dragonfruit, a diamondback terrapin, while learning about their unique adaptations, behaviors, and natural history.
The English session runs from 2–2:30 p.m., followed by a Spanish session from 2:30–3 p.m. RSVP is required for each session, and space is limited.
Lake Arlington Garden Activity Day
Get your hands dirty and help support local wildlife at Lake Arlington Garden Activity Day on Tuesday, Sept. 1 from 8–10 a.m. at the Lake Arlington Native Plant & Pollinator Garden. Join Arlington Water Utilities, Tarrant Regional Water District, and community partners as they work to restore native prairie and wildflowers to 2.75 acres near the Lake Arlington Dam.
Paws to Read
Give your young reader a furry audience at Paws to Read on Wednesday, Sept. 2 from 4–5 p.m. at Southwest Branch Library. Kids ages 5–12 can practice reading aloud with friendly therapy dogs in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Bring a favorite book or borrow one from the library.
Sign-ups are in person before the program, with 10-minute reading slots assigned based on arrival order. Space is limited to the number of dogs available.
