CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The woman who died after being stabbed during a fight at a Corpus Christi OYO Motel has been identified as 53-year-old Monica Luna, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Corpus Christi police were called to the motel in the 5200 block of IH-37 Access Road around 10:42 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21. Officers found Luna injured, and she was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

Police said several people were involved in a fight before the stabbing.

Robbery-Homicide detectives identified 39-year-old Emilio Ybarra as a suspect and obtained a murder warrant. Police later found Ybarra on Treyway Lane and arrested him without incident.

Luna’s family has been notified.
