EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A fight between a daughter and her mother’s caregiver escalated after the caregiver was stabbed multiple times with a knife in Northeast El Paso, according to court documents obtained by KTSM 9 News.
As KTSM previously reported, 35-year-old Shaloni Mariah Wallace is accused of the murder of 36-year-old April Marie Flores on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in an apartment complex.

Shortly after 11 a.m., officers arrived at 4980 Sean Haggerty and found Flores lying on the sidewalk. They saw that she had multiple stab wounds to her torso area.
Officers rendered aid and Flores was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

After Flores was transported, officers met with a maintenance person, who told officers they saw a woman holding a large knife that had blood on it, according to court documents. The maintenance person recognized the woman as Wallace.
Officers followed a trail of blood that led them through the apartment complex to Wallace’s residence. They made contact with Wallace, but “upon seeing that it was police, she immediately shut the door,” the affidavit read.
Officers forced their way into the apartment and took Wallace into custody.
According to court documents, investigators met with Wallace’s mother. She stated that Flores had been working as her caregiver for about two weeks. It was noted that before Flores, Wallace was her mother’s caregiver, but her mother had to let her go because she “was not doing a good job.”
According to the mother’s statement, Flores arrived around 9 a.m., while her daughter came over nearly two hours later.
The mother stated that Flores and Wallace did not know each other and everything seemed fine. “All of a sudden (Wallace) began to attack (Flores) by ‘hitting’ her multiple times for an unknown reason,” read court documents.
Wallace’s mother said she did not see if her daughter had a knife during the attack.
The maintenance person stated that he was doing work on a nearby apartment when he heard someone yelling for help. He exited the apartment and saw Flores walking toward him with “her head down, grabbing onto her chest with blood all over,” the affidavit read.
The maintenance person ran to the front office and told his supervisor to call 911. Then he walked back towards Flores, where he allegedly saw Wallace holding what appeared to be a large knife in both of her hands near her stomach, court documents read.
Investigators took multiple statements from other witnesses who rendered aid and reported that Flores told them that Wallace was the one who stabbed her.
Officers were able to retrieve video surveillance from an apartment near the scene that showed Wallace holding what appeared to be a knife, looking behind her as she turned the corner and walked away from the camera’s view.
Wallace was later interviewed by officers, who did not say the reason why she showed up at her mother’s apartment that day. Officers also noted suspected blood on her shirt.
