Firefighters were on scene when a 25-mile-per-hour gust of wind came, blowing the flames back onto two firefighters, officials say.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Two Fort Worth firefighters were injured in a house on Crowley Road late Monday night, according to officials.
Firefighters responded to a house fire just after 10:40 p.m. in the 2600 block of Crowley Road, the Fort Worth Fire Department said in a press release. When crews arrived on scene, they found fire coming from the second story of the home.

Firefighters were on scene for less than 10 minutes when a 25-mile-per-hour gust of wind blew the flames back onto two firefighters, officials say. The firefighters became disoriented and a mayday call was issued. Due to the manpower needed during a mayday call, an automatic second alarm was initiated.
“From about the time some of the doors and stuff failed on the south side of the structure, with those wind gusts coming through almost acting like a blowtorch to our guys that were on the second story,” said Fort Worth Fire Public Information Officer Craig Trojacek.
A nearby fire crew trained in rescuing firefighters from burning homes responded to the scene, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department. Thankfully, the crew was able to rescue the injured firefighters in under 10 minutes, officials say.
Both firefighters were transported to the hospital for their burn injuries, fire officials confirm.
The crew on scene was able to contain the blaze in just under an hour. Three residents self-evacuated before firefighters arrived on scene, crews say. No injuries to the residents were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting the individuals who were displaced, according to officials.
