Noah Dollenmayer scored a 93rd minute winner for El Paso Locomotive FC in a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Southwest University Park.
This is El Paso’s fifth consecutive win and they now sit in second place in the USL Championship Western Conference with 34 points, only behind on goal difference to first place New Mexico United. Pittsburgh remains in fourth in the Eastern Conference with 33 points.
In the first half the Locos controlled most of the ball and created a majority of the chances, but it ended scoreless. In the 53rd minute Robbie Mertz put the visitors ahead 1-0. However, two minutes later Eric Calvillo’s long range shot was deflected into the Pittsburgh net to tie the game. Then in stoppage time, Zyen Jones whipped in a cross to Dollenmayer. Dollenmayer headed it past the Pittsburgh keeper to secure the victory.
The Locos briefly sat atop the table, before New Mexico finished a 2-1 victory over Lexington.
On Saturday, the Locos will host Loudoun United.
