Houston police say the driver lost control of a Lexus and crashed into a barricade. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor.

HOUSTON — A man was killed in a crash that shut down the 610 North Loop for hours early Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

Houston police said the crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. on the North Loop.

Investigators said a man driving a Lexus was speeding before he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a barricade.

The driver died on impact, according to police. He was the only person inside the vehicle.

Police said they believe speed may have been a factor in the deadly crash.

The crash forced the 610 North Loop to close for hours overnight. All lanes have since reopened.
