Planning a wedding sounds romantic right up until you realize you need a venue, photographer, flowers, cake, music, decorations, invitations, food and approximately 700 other things nobody mentioned when you said, “Yes.”
Fortunately, Lubbock couples can knock out a bunch of that planning in one afternoon.

The Hub City Wedding Collective is hosting the Hub City Wedding Expo on Sunday, August 30th, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the YWCA of Lubbock.
And this isn’t supposed to be one of those events where you walk around collecting brochures until you’re carrying six pounds of paper.
Meet Lubbock Wedding Professionals in One Place
The Hub City Wedding Collective is a local nonprofit made up of wedding and event professionals from around the Lubbock area.
The organization was created to support and promote locally owned wedding businesses while also giving couples a trusted place to find the people they’ll need for their big day.

The expo is designed to be a little more relaxed and interactive than the traditional wedding show.
Couples can explore different areas, meet local wedding professionals, collect ideas and enjoy free samples along the way.
And I’m assuming wedding samples are better than most samples because there’s at least a decent chance cake is involved.

There will be four fashion shows throughout the afternoon, along with music and entertainment.
Brides will also receive a Bridal Passport when they arrive.
As they make their way around the expo, they can collect stamps from Hub City Wedding Collective members. Complete the passport and you can enter to win prizes donated by local wedding and event businesses.

According to Hub City Wedding Collective President and Founder Shawnna Waters, the idea is to create an event where couples can slow down and actually have some fun planning their wedding.
That’s probably worth remembering.
You’re planning a celebration, after all. It shouldn’t feel like you’re coordinating an international summit.

So, if you’re getting married in Lubbock, grab your fiancé, maid of honor, mom (or whoever has been volunteered into wedding-planning duty) and spend Sunday afternoon meeting some of the local people who could make the whole process considerably easier.
Because you’ve already made the biggest decision.
Now you just have to make the other 700.
