HOUSTON – A 30-year-old man is in custody after calling emergency dispatchers to report that he stabbed his father inside a home in Harris County, according to law enforcement officials.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 16700 block of Stoneside shortly after receiving the 911 call at 11:02 a.m.
Major Earl Dean told KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that upon arrival, deputies located the caller inside the residence and detained him.
Inside the home, authorities discovered a 64-year-old man with apparent stab wounds. First responders confirmed the victim was dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the suspect and the victim were the only two people inside the home at the time of the incident.
Although the suspect’s driver’s license lists the Stoneside residence as his address, authorities are still working to confirm whether he lived at the home full-time or resided elsewhere.
Homicide and investigative units were called to the scene to process evidence. A motive for the attack has not been determined, and the investigation remains active.
Deputies tell KPRC that they previously responded to calls for service at the same location in May 2025. Those past incidents included a domestic disturbance and a mental health warrant case in which the suspect was taken into emergency detention.
Authorities stated there is no active threat to the community.
