Offensive physical contact against a family member (listed as domestic violence under the Clery Act)
At 3:53 p.m. Aug. 18, a UTA student reported being assaulted by his girlfriend, who is also a UTA student, in Lot 49, UTA Police Capt. Jim Randles said. The girlfriend was transported to the hospital for emergency mental health commitment after being deemed an immediate danger to herself.
The victim declined to assist with prosecution for the class C misdemeanor offense of offensive contact, Randles said.
Offensive physical contact against a family member is a third-degree felony punishable by jail time between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1/1-B and possession of drug paraphernalia
At about 11:22 a.m. Aug. 14, officers conducted a traffic stop on a non-UTA affiliate in the entryway to Centennial Court, Randles said. The driver had outstanding arrest warrants.
During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered methamphetamine in the suspect’s pocket. The individual was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance (PG 1, 1-4 grams).
Possession of a controlled substance in which the amount is between one and four grams is a third-degree felony punishable by imprisonment of between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Harassment, forgery of a financial instrument and theft of property
At 3:37 p.m. Aug. 16, officers investigated a harassment report at the Arbor Oaks apartments, Randles said. A UTA student reported being scammed after depositing fraudulent checks into his bank account.
The suspect subsequently began harassing the victim online. An offense report was initiated for harassment, theft ($100–$750) and forgery.
Harassment is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, up to 180 days in jail or both.
Forgery of a financial instrument between $750 and $2,500 is a state jail felony punishable by a fine not to exceed $10,000, a jail term between 180 days and two years or both.
Theft of property valued between $100 and $750 is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail for up to 180 days or both.

Obscene display or distribution
At about 12:27 p.m. Aug. 21, a UTA student reported that an individual at the Central Library displayed pornography to her in public, Randles said. Police initiated an obscene display report.

Reckless damage or destruction of property
At about 1:51 p.m. Aug. 20, a UTA student reported that his vehicle was damaged while parked unattended in Lot 36, Randles said. A reckless damage report was initiated.
Reckless damage or destruction of property is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
